Key employees are those whose skills and knowledge are significant contributions to overall business income. If a key employee dies or is unable to work anymore, the impact is significant enough that the business will suffer. The financial consequences are undesirable and detrimental. Various fad diets come and go and the latest trend is the ketogenic diet – also known as just “keto.”
People who go on keto diets tend to drop weight pretty rapidly, and the regimen has been linked to lower blood-sugar levels thanks to the absence of carbs. The main thrust of the diet is that when your body doesn’t have carbohydrates to burn for fuel it starts burning fat instead, which in turn produces ketone molecules. But is it healthy?

As the workforce ages and many employers want to keep on baby-boomer staff who have the experience and institutional knowledge that is irreplaceable, one issue that always comes up is how to handle health insurance.
Once your older workers reach the age of eligibility for Medicare, under current law you can help them pay for Part B and D premiums with a Medicare Premium Reimbursement Arrangement. These types of arrangements are legal for only certain sized employers, though. Get the details here.

Welcome

We have an article on Long Term Care, I know you may not think it's important but I assure you after seeing my family go through a nursing home situation, you want to be in control.  Long Term Care Insurance is the way to be in control of your future.
Ask me about Long Term Care Insurance or Life Insurance so you can protect your family from having to take on your late life debts.
Another topic this month is the short term medical plans, these are as the name implies.  If you or a family member find your self without coverage or in between plans, this is a great way to go.  It's not a permanent solution, but far better than going without health insurance coverage.
If you remember Brook Shields, she's our spokesperson for the month as it's life insurance awareness month !
Here's her PSA announcement on the subject !  Brook Shields
Take care,
Have a great September !

A new report by the trade publication Modern Healthcare shows just how little short-term care plans spend on enrollees’ medical claims.
The report found that the average paid out among the short-term plans was 39.2%. That’s a far cry from the 80% of premiums health plans are required to spend on medical care to comply with the Affordable Care Act.
The figures shine a harsh light on just how little short-term health plan policyholders benefit from the plans they purchase. Here’s what you need to know about these plans.

New Mexico Health Connections 2020

New Mexico Health Connections 2020!
Here are some changes you need to know:
  • New Mexico Health Connections (NMHC) is no longer working with True Health New Mexico (THNM) as their TPA. As their TPA THNM has managed NMHC's back of the house items and their network.
  • Instead they have hired a Colorado company called Friday Health Plans to be their TPA and manage their network.
Due to this there is Good news and Bad news.
Bad news first:
  • NMHC's network will be different and changing. Mainly their providers.
Good news:
  • NMHC's will still work with Lovelace and UNM hospitals.
  • Because THNM is no longer the TPA for NMHC's they have decided that they are going to start their own Individual Health Insurance plan in 2020.
    • They are taking their network which we have always know as NMHC's with them. So, if you want the same exact network you have had with NMHC's we will most likely want to check out True Health New Mexico's offerings at this open enrollment.
    • This is fantastic in a way as it creates more competition.
Based upon all this above news NMHC's is still strong as ever!
Their TPA partner Friday Health Plans is a great carrier which I work with in Denver area as well. They are a strong and smart company when it comes to providing care to their customers. So, I am anticipating their customer service will be better than ever.

Now lets look at the 2020  New Mexico Health Connections plans!

What to expect:
  • NMHC's has sent out a renewal kit. If you wish to keep the same plan you can return the re-enrollment paperwork back to me via email or fax and I will get to the insurance carrier on your behalf! (Or let me know you sent it off)
  • If you are not sure if you want to renew quite yet then I encourage you to book an appointment with me.
  • Once appointment is booked we will talk about 2020 options and I can share with you the new THNM plans and all the other carriers in New Mexico for 2020.

What is Health Sharing !

Thousands of individuals, families, churches and organizations rely on each other for their medical needs.

We provide the opportunity to give because good is always returned.

How it works is simple.

Individuals, couples, families, churches and organizations contribute financially into the members’ escrow account and we act as the neutral escrow agent for the members.

  • Members’ medical needs are shared according to the Membership Guidelines and escrow instructions.
  • Members are asked to submit a monthly contribution.
  • Members present their Membership ID card when medical services are received and the provider submits the medical need according to the instructions on the back of the card.
